Fall is my favorite time of year. A little nip in the air. Finally! Making soup. Watching football. Just chillin' on the patio watching the leaves turn. Well, that's my dream scenario. Here's what actually happened.
In early September, we were privileged to be a part of the Gaither video taping scheduled for release in March 2017. It was the twenty-fifth anniversary of the beginning of the Gaither Homecoming video series, so we went back to the Gaither studios where it all began. During dinner we looked at pictures of the early video shoots. We all looked a bit younger then! It was fun seeing everyone and getting to go back to where it all started.
Of course, our regular tour schedule has kept us busy as well. In September, we had concerts in Virginia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky. Whew! It makes me tired just thinking about it.
During all of this, our bus had transmission issues, so we went a couple of trips in a van. God was gracious though. The bus was at the garage when the problem was discovered so we weren't broken down on the side of the road! PTL!! The bus has a new transmission and she's doing well. A big thank you to Bill Moore and all the guys at Moore's Tractor & Trailer Repair. Those guys keep us rolling. They are the best!!
Lauren has finished her new album, The Gospel, and it's scheduled for release in February 2017. She has been cowriting with several songwriters in Nashville and has several of those songs on the album. She also has some amazing guests on the project such as Brian Free and Assurance, Gordon Mote, Riley Harrison Clark, and Cindy Morgan. In my humble, mom-like, yet objective opinion, this project is her best yet!
We finished September with the National Quartet Convention in Pigeon Forge, Tn. Talk about finishing the month with a bang! We had a great week at NQC visiting with all our friends and getting to talk to many of the fans that come from all over the U.S. and several other countries.
On Tuesday of the NQC week, there was a Celebrity Dunk Tank Challenge coordinated by Lauren. It was held at Tony Gore's BBQ restaurant in Sevierville,Tn. Thank you, Tony! The event was benefiting The Veranda in Gallatin, Tn. The Veranda is a nonprofit respite care program for caregivers. The Talleys have been involved with the Veranda since it's beginning four years ago. We want to thank those celebrities willing to be dunked- Tim Lovelace, Scotty Inman, Triumphant Qt.; Michael Booth, Booth Bros.; Kirk Talley, Josh Singletary, Tribute Qt.; and Lauren Talley. A big thanks to Dennis Murphy, (Kingdom Heirs), for offering his amazing pitching arm for those who couldn't throw. I also want to say thanks to all the wonderful, caring volunteers at The Veranda for holding down the fort while their director, Mary Anne Sutherly was at NQC for the fundraiser. The event was a great success raising over $6100. The Veranda operates on volunteer help and donations. If you would like to donate or volunteer, please go on the Veranda website, verandaministries.org . See what they do there and help us help others.
There was another great opportunity for The Veranda at NQC. Fox News Network celebrity, Kelly Wright interviewed Mary Anne and Tribute Qt for an upcoming segment on his show, Beyond The Dream. The segment will feature an interview about The Veranda to be aired later this fall. Set your DVRs to record the series.
So that was September. I glanced over at my open calendar next to me to see if I've forgotten anything. Nope, those were the highlights.
As I turn the page to October, I want to invite you to an event in Circleville, OH. Abraham Productions is sponsoring a big event at Ohio Christian University on October 13, 14, & 15. The three day event will feature many of your favorite artists, such as The Talleys, The Hoppers, The Whisnants, Karen Peck and New River, Ivan Parker, the Collingsworth Family, Greater Vision and more. There will be a special Saturday afternoon concert featuring Jason Crabb, Lauren Talley, Mercy's Heart, and the Voice's Emily Ann Roberts. If you have young people in your house, bring them to this exciting event! Everyone is welcome. It's for the young at heart too. There are still tickets available for the night events, so don't miss it. Tickets and info are available at abrahamproductions.com.
I looked at our October schedule and we are very busy again. Go to our tour schedule page and see if we are in your area? We will look forward to seeing you! Well, there goes sitting on the patio watching the leaves turn! Guess I'll have to see the colors from the bus window.
Until next time, Debra
As I write this, I have the TV on watching the coverage of Hurricane Matthew. The pictures are shocking of the devastation. Please pray for all those affected by this powerful hurricane. Also, donate to the Red Cross or any local entity raising money for the victims. As you sit in your comfortable home, remember those who have lost theirs. I know I will.
